Emily wins gold at the Vics

by Carl Brewer last modified 2010-01-16 01:23

500m ITT gold, sprint silver

At the Victorian Junior Track titles today Emily Apolito successfully defended her 500m ITT title in JW15, setting a new personal best time of 40.576s (44.361km/h), with her closest rival clocking 42.118 (Courtney Field), she then went on to set the fastest qualifying time in the sprint with a 13.857s (51.959km/h) flying 200, the only JW15 to get down into 13 seconds.  She then won through to the gold medal ride off in straight rounds, won the first round in the gold medal ride off (best of three) but Courtney Field had a bit too much endurance in the next to take Emily to 3 rounds, and both riders gave it everything they had, Emily had to settle for silver in the sprint after a huge day's racing.

Fantastic effort, Emily.
