About my new track racing bike, a 2006 Raceline Record
After riding a club bike out at Blackburn Cycling Club for a few weeks, and
deciding I liked track racing, it was time to go shopping for a bike.
There are a lot of track bikes to choose from, but only a few in the low price range (Hillbrick, Avanti, Specialized). And it's normally pretty hard to get to test a track bike, as not many places keep them in stock, and won't order one unless you're about to buy it.
Bayswater Cycles have the 2006 Raceline Record on sale at the moment, and they just happened to have a 58cm bike in stock. They set me up in the spin trainer with the newly assembled bike and some new Ultegra pedals, we changed to a longer stem, and adjusted the seat, and it felt really good. So I bought it.
An hour later I was racing in the smoky air and 37 degree heat at the Blackburn track. Well done to Bruce and the guys at Bayswater for a quick setup and efficient commerce.
Starting in 2007, Apollo will be re-branding all of their range as "Apollo" rather than using "Raceline" for the higher spec'd machines. So, same bike, new name, new colour. Here's the link to the new Apollo Record:
Yeah, I prefer the red one.
:-)
