Need a bike rack to go from floor to ceiling?
Some people have asked me about storing bikes in small spaces. I live
in a terrace with no garage, and no spare room for bikes.
This rack consists of a post (called Broder) which is screwed into the ceiling using plaster anchors. Gravity does the rest as the post is spring loaded.
It was about $100 in total, including the two cycle hooks and two brackets and trays (called Muck) which I use for tools, lights, etc. It's mounted about 200mm from the wall, and needs about 500mm so the door doesn't crash into the bikes.
If you have more room, you could hang 4 bikes from it, as the post is double sided - just add more racks to the post. You can add more brackets, hooks and other attachments too, just search the Ikea web site for "Broder".
